Chen Da (1923) was born in Yueqing, Zhejiang Province. He joined the New Fourth Army in 1944 and was engaged in art creation and propaganda in the army. In 1955, he graduated from the East China Branch of the Central Academy of Fine Arts.

Chen was known for his Chinese paintings, figure painting, and landscape painting.
