Qi Baocheng (1963) is from Tianjin. From 1984-1988, he studied oil painting in the Drawing Department of the Tianjin Art Academy. In the following four years, he worked as an art editor at the Tianjin Yangliuqing Art Publisher and did research on popular (民间) art. From 2002 onward, he was attached to Tianjin Normal University, where he became Associate Professor. He is currently working in the Oil Painting Teaching and Research Section of the Fine Arts Department of the Academy of Art and Design, Tianjin Normal University.
