Wang Wenfang (1938-2020) was born in Zhaoyuan, Shandong Province. In 1957, he joined the Chinese Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts under the tutelage of Li Keran, Ye Qianyu, Jiang Zhaohe, Li Kuchan, and Zong Qixiang. After graduating in 1962, he was assigned to the Beijing Academy of Painting to become a professional painter.

Five of his works were collected by the National Art Museum of China. After he passed away, in line with his wishes, no memorial service was held, nor were his ashes scattered or interred.
