Wei Chuyu (魏楚予)

weichuyuWei Chuyu (1945) was born in Wenshui, Shanxi Province. After his graduation from the Oil Painting Department of the Zhejiang Art Academy in 1970, he joined the People's Liberation Army and was stationed in Nanjing. In 1986, he was transferred to the Museum of the Chinese Revolution in Beijing. Most recently, Wei served as a professor of fine arts at Renmin University, Beijing.

Wei, who specializes in oil painting, Chinese painting and calligraphy, collaborated with Chen Qi, Zhao Guangtao and Chen Jian on the painting 'The Huai-Hai Battle'. It was awarded a People's Liberation Army Art prize in 1983.
