Wei Qimei (韦启美)

Wei Qimei (1923-2009) hailed from Anqing, Anhui Province. During the Anti-Japanese War, he studied in the National Central University in Chongqing. Wei has taught for many years in the Oil Painting Department of the Central Art Academy.

Wei was known for his oil paintings and his cartoons. A number of his oil paintings have been included in the collections of the China Art Gallery and the Museum of the Chinese People's Revolutionary Army. Moreover, Wei has created numerous historical works for the former Chinese History Museum, the former Museum of the Chinese Revolution, the Museum of the Chinese People's Revolutionary Army, and the Bethune Memorial Hall.
