Zhang Yang (张扬)

Zhang Yang (1931-1996) was from Beijing. In 1958, he graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of the Central Art Academy and went to the Inner Mongolia Normal College to teach in its Fine Arts Department. He became a professor there.

In his younger years, Zhang made comic strips and illustrations. After the 1960s, he created Chinese paintings, like 'Huang Chao’s rebel army enters Chang'an' (BG E17/97), which was included in the collection of the Chinese Museum of History. More recently, Zhang became a fashion designer.
