Bi Qingyu (1929-2004) was from Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. He graduated in 1951 from the Fine Arts Department of the Lu Xun Art Academy. He specialized in Chinese painting and serial cartoons; his works were exhibited, critically acclaimed and included in national collections, including that of the former Museum of Chinese History. Moreover, his contributions to art education were significant.
