Chen Shaofeng (1923-1997) was born in Nanzhao, Henan Province. In 1949, he entered the Fine Arts Department of the College of Literature and Art of Zhongyuan University to study. After graduation in the autumn of 1950, he stayed in the art team of the Fine Arts Department of the Central Plains University. In 1954, he transferred to the Zhongnan Academy of Fine Arts (predecessor of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts) to teach creation class. During the period, he continued to create art.
