Gu Zhao'en (1939) was a native of Ningjin, Hebei Province. Gu is known for his comic strips and illustrations. After 1958, he served as the art editor of the Shijiazhuang Daily (石家庄日报) and Jianshe Newspaper (建设报). He was the art editor of the Hebei Children's Publishing House.

"Cotton Doctor" is one of his best-known works.
