Liao Zongyi (1937) is from Chaozhou, Guangdong Province. After he joined the People's Liberation Army in 1956, he enrolled in a refresher course in the Guangzhou Art Academy in 1962. He is now a staff member in the Literature and Art Creation Office of the Political Department of the Guangzhou Military Region.

Some of Liao's blockprints have been included in the collection of the China Art Gallery.
