Lin Yong (1942) was born in Chaozhou, Guangdong Province. In 1966, he graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of the Guangzhou Art Academy. He became vice-director of the Guangdong Painting Academy.

Lin is specialized in portraits, flower-and-bird painting and murals. He collaborated with Wu Qizhong and Zhou Bo.
