Mei Xiaoqing - 梅肖青

Mei Xiaoqing (1930) was born in Huangmei, Hubei Province. He joined the People's Liberation Army in 1949 upon his graduation from senior high school. In the following years he created art in his spare time. In 1979 he became deputy-head of the creation group of the Kunming Military Region, and in 1985 he became the deputy director of the Kuming Chinese Painting Academy. He retired in 1987.

Initally, Mei created oil paintings and wood block prints. But from the 1960s on he only produced Chinese paintings, some of which have been included in the collection of the China Art Institute.
