Shen Qipeng (1946) was born in Nantong, Jiangsu Province. In his youth, he was an apprentice of a number of artists, including Song Wenzhi and Ya Ming. In 1987, he perfected his art in the Chinese Painting Research Institute in Beijing. He now heads the Nantong Calligraphy and National Painting Research Institute.

Shen is specialized in water colors.
