Wei Zhenbao (1944) hails from Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province. In 1977, he graduated from the Art Department of the Anhui Normal College. He transferred in 1983 to the Wuxi Calligraphy and Painting Academy.

Wei is known for his blockprints and gongbi ("meticulous", 工笔)-style drawings.
