Xu Changming (1929-2018) was from Wuzhen, Tongxiang City, Zhejiang Province. He learned textile patterns from his teacher and designed weaving patterns in his early years. From 1951 to 1954, he studied in the Shanghai Shanhe Art Research Office. He started to engage in foreign trade publicity work in 1955, and has long-term tutored interns and graduate students in the decoration technology department of colleges and universities across the country.

Xu was good at decoration, arts and crafts design, decorative painting, and comics.
