Yang Guoxun (1930-1996) was from Fenghuang, Hunan Province. After his graduation from Guiyang Normal University in 1946, he taught art in primary and secondary schools, was a cadre in the Guizhou Provincial Communist Youth League Committee and art editor in the Guizhou Youth Paper (Guizhou qingnian bao, 贵州青年报). He was art editor with the Guizhou Evening News (Guizhou wanbao, 贵州晚报).

Yang was good at drawing.
