Yang Yingbiao (1931-2018) was born in Yilan City, Taiwan Province. He loved painting since he was a child. When he was 4 years old, he moved with his family to Northeast China and later to Beijing. After growing up, he was admitted to the Department of Architecture (undergraduate) of Tongji University in Shanghai, and began to create comic strips in his spare time. Among his comics, a large part was created for the Shanghai People’s Fine Arts Publishing House. In 1975, he went to teach at the former Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts (now the Shanghai University Academy of Fine Arts) and served as the head teacher of the painting class for 7 years.

In 1996, he returned to Taiwan and continued to engage in the design and production of various art projects, and published a well-received series of painting collections and albums.
