Yan Chengfu (1955) was born in Dalian, Liaoning Province. He began to learn painting under the oil painter Yu Zhenli in the 1970s. Later, he engaged in printmaking. He resigned from public office in 2003 and devoted himself to the study of Chinese painting. He is now a freelance painter.
