Ding Ningyuan (1939) is from Qingzhou, Shandong Province. He graduated from the Fine Arts Department of the Shandong Art School in 1962. He is currently professor in the Arts Department of Shandong Normal College.

Ding started out as a figurative painter, but most recently he has switched to landscape painting. Aside from that, he has designed serial cartoons, Chinese paintings and New Year prints. His works have been included in the collection of the China Art Gallery.
