Guan Hezhang (1913-1995), member of the Man nationality, was born in Huhehaote (Hohhot), Inner Mongolia. After his graduation from the Chinese Painting Department of the Jinghua Art School in 1934, he taught art in primary and middle schools. After 1956, he embarked on a career in art supervision and politico-cultural management.
Guan was a landscape painter but also appreciated for his flower paintings. His work has been collected by the Cultural Palace of Nationalities (Beijing), the Inner Mongolia Museum and others.
