Hang Mingshi (1931) is from Shanghai. In 1952, he entered the Drawing Department of the Arts Section of the North East Lu Xun Art Academy, from which he graduated in 1955. Afterwards, he engaged in teaching. In 1985 he transferred to the Suzhou City Architecture and Preservation Institute, where he became a professor in the Art Research Office.
Hang is known for his New Year prints, water colors and gouaches. Some of his work has been included in the collection of the China Art Gallery.
