Huang Sancai (1938) was from Haifeng, Guangdong Province. After graduating from high school in 1959, he was "luckily" admitted to the Printmaking Department of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. Due to the lack of basic knowledge in painting, the talented Huang painted several satisfactory "graffiti" (涂鸦) works, but was called by his teacher as "having not yet entered the door of art." Huang did not shrink back because of the teacher's "cold water". Instead, he corrected his thinking and worked harder to learn the basics of professional painting. Hard work pays off. After five years of hard work at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Huang finally reaped his first success - his graduation works "First Lesson" and "Martial Arts on the Sea" not only received full marks, but were also selected for the 1964 Graduate Creative Achievements Exhibition of National Higher Art Schools. In 1964, Huang Sancai, who had just graduated, was directly called up by the Guangzhou Air Force and started his 19-year military career with passion. In 1983, when reform and opening up was in full swing, Huang, already in his forties, transferred to the Shenzhen Special Administrative Region and worked for a newspaper there. With less of the rigor and monotony of military life and more of the passion and ideals of life in the Special Administrative Region, Huang Sancai began to draw more creative inspiration from the busy construction scene of the Special Administrative Region.

Huang is good at printmaking, serial cartoons, glass sculptures, and oil painting.
