Jia Xingtong (1937) was born in Shuangliu County, near Chengdu, Sichuan Province. He graduated from the Oil Painting Department of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts in 1963. He was assigned to the Chengdu Working People's Cultural Palace to engage in full-time mass art work until retirement.
In 1972, he created the oil painting "Childhood" (Tongnian 童年) and participated in the National Art Exhibition. His work was included in the "Selected Works of Fine Arts to Commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Chairman Mao's Speech at the Yan'an Art Symposium" (纪念毛主席在延安文艺座谈会上讲话发表30周年美术作品选集), a folder containing 96 loose-leaf images published by Renmin meishu chubanshe in 1973.
