Kong Lingsheng's ancestral home is in Qufu, Shandong Province. He is a descendant of the Confucius family. Kong (1939) was a native of Bijie, Guizhou Province. In the period 1956-1999, he worked at the Yunnan Youth Daily (雲南青年報), the Simao Daily (思茅報), and the Xishuangbanna Daily (西雙版納報). Kong paints Chinese ethnic costumes and customs.
