Lei Zhengmin (1933) is from Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. He graduated from the Art School of North China University in 1949 and completed his studies at the Central Art Academy Art Cadre Course in 1951. Lei has been a section head of the Culture Department of the Political Department of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army and an editor at the August One Film Studios.

Lei is known for his art criticism and Chinese painting. His "Marriage Registration" (1950) counts as one of his major works.
