Lin Meilan (1940-2008) was born in Wuning, Jiangxi Province. After his graduation from Jiangxi Jiujiang Normal College in 1960, he became a teacher at Wuning Middle School. In 1964 he transfered to the Jiujiang Area Mass Art Center, where he became a staff member until the present.

Lin was known for his serial cartoons, for which he was awarded both national and regional prizes.
