lipingfanLi Pingfan (1922-2011) was from Tianjin. As a child, he would spend a lot of time in the Western Art Section of the Tianjin Municipal Art Museum. Later, he studied Japanese woodblock techniques, and in 1938, he started to create woodblocks. In 1943, he went to Japan for study. After his return in 1950, he became an art editor with the People’s Fine Arts Publishing House. Li was a master of the woodblock print.
