Li Shuyun (1944) was born in Changle, Fujian Province. In 1972, he joined the People's Liberation Army, where he created (propaganda) art in his spare time. After 1984, he became arts editor with the Fujian Fine Arts Publishing House.

Li is mainly known for his Chinese-style paintings and comic strips.
