Li Wenlong (1939) was born in Hejin, Shanxi Province. He started his carreer as an art teacher at a normal college. Later, in the early 1960s, he was transferred to the Linfen area (Shanxi Province), where he still works.
Li creates New Year prints and block prints. Some of his works have been included in the collection of the China Art Gallery. His 1974 poster 'The red blossom of Dazahi blooms everywhere' can be seen as one produced typically for the local market: it is considerably smaller than average, the quality of the art work is not too good and it was a lot cheaper when it was put up for sale for the first time.
