Li Zhenjian (1922-1992) was born in Jinyun, Zhejiang Province. He was a famous figure artist and the founder as well as one of the representative artists of the portraiture of the new Zhejiang painting faction, and professor at the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts.

In 2014, Li's family donated 4,028 works of Li Zhenjian to the Zhejiang Art Museum for its permanent collection.
