Lu Deng (1932) was born in Yixing, Jiangsu Province. He graduated from high school in 1950 and was admitted to the Department of Art, National Nanjing University, majoring in painting. In 1951, he joined the army and served as a cadet and teacher of a military academy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. In 1958, he voluntarily returned to school and became a transfer student majoring in oil painting at Nanjing University of the Arts. Combined with art practice at school, he created a number of posters that were published and distributed by the Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House. After graduation, he was assigned to work in the industrial system as an art designer.
