Meng Muyi (孟幕颐)

Meng Muyi (1917) was from Haining, Zhejiang Province. In 1938, he started his education at the White Swan Drawing Research Unit (白鹅绘画研究所) in Shanghai and combined work with studying drawing and sculpture. He went to North-Jiangsu in 1942 to join the New Fourth Army and continued to produce cartoons and woodcuts. After returning to Shanghai in 1943, he again concentrated on drawing and sculpture. Meng became a member of the Shanghai New Year Print Small Group in 1950, and in 1956, he joined the Shanghai Poster Publishing House (上海画片出版社). In 1958, he became art editor at the Ningxia People's Publishing House; he transferred to the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Museum in 1971.

Meng is known for his New Year prints.
