Qi Jie (1927) was born in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. In 1946, he entered the Art Department of the North China United University. From 1948 onward, he worked in various capacities in the art publishing sector in Hebei Province. Before he retired in 1988, he was active as editor and advisor of the Hebei Fine Arts Publishing House. Qi is known for his illustrations, New Year pictures and comic strips.
