Qin Wenmei (or Qin Wen Mei) is not an individual artist, but stands for Shaanxi (Qin 秦) Cultural Bureau (Wen[huaju] 文化局) Art Creation Group (Mei[shu chuangzuozu] 美术创作组). The name was used for collaborative works produced in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province. The name Shaanxi Province Fine Arts Creation Group (陕西省美术创作组) was used around the same time for pretty much the same group of artists.

The group did not have a large permanent staff of artists, but organized local talent when and where necessary for specific projects. One of the participants was Liu Wenxi.
