Qiu Sha (1930) was born in Shengxian, Zhejiang Province. In 1948, he started the study of woodcarving with the All-China Wood Carving Association. He went on to the East China Branch of the Central Art Academy in 1951, and that same year he joined the 中国青年报 (China Youth Paper) as an editor. In 1978, he transferred to the Central Industrial Art Academy to take up teaching, where he ended his career as an associate professor. Qiu is known for his drawings.
