Shen Xinggong (1943, Ningbo, Zhejiang Province) graduated from the Arts Department of the Nanjing Art Institute in 1966. In the following years, his creative activities were limited to his spare time. From 1978-1981, he enrolled as a research student in the Oil Painting Department of the Nanjing Art Institute. After his graduation, he became an associate professor at the same institute.

Oil paintings are Shen's specialty.
