Shi Songling (师松龄)

Shi Songlin (1933-2008) was born in Yongji County, Shanxi Province. In February 1949, he joined the People's Liberation Army and passed the examination to enter the Art School of the Northwest Military and Political University. He successively served as an artist for the Southwest Pictorial (西南画报), the Political Department of the Tenth Army, and the Second Aviation School of the Naval Air Force. In early 1958, after changing his career, he served as the art editor of the Wuhu Daily (芜湖日报). At the beginning of 1959, he was transferred to the newly established printmaking group of the Anhui Federation of Literary and Art Circles. In 1962, he studied in the Printmaking Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts.

His traditional Chinese painting skills were profound and perfect, and he was well-known at home and abroad for his excellent printmaking.
