Song Yupu (1949) was born in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. He graduated from the Fine Arts Department of the Nanjing University of the Arts in 1970. He was taught by masters such as Fu Baoshi, Chen Zhifo, Lu Sibai, Yang Jianhou, etc., and also received teachings from seniors such as Ya Ming and Qian Songyan.

His works have been exhibited, have won awards, and have been published at home and abroad many times. Exhibition venues included Zhongnanhai, the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, and the Jiangsu Provincial Art Museum.
