Wang Chunyan (1946-1997), from Shanghai, was known as a modern printmaker and decorator. He graduated from Shanghai Normal University with a major in Fine Arts, and later studied in Shanghai Jiaotong University, majoring in Industrial Design; and the Decoration Department of the Central Academy of Art and Design. Around the 1960s, he created many woodcut prints representing the life and new scenes of New China. He received recognition and awards for his works.
