Wang Kewei (1950) was born in Dandong, Liaoning Province. He is a self-taught artist who has taught in primary schools and who has been active in stage design for local Shanxi Opera. In 1985, he transferred to the serial cartoon editorial office of the People's Fine Arts Publishing House.

Wang is specialized in serial cartoons, for which he has been awarded numerous prizes.
