Xiao Su (1919-unknown) was born in Suqing, Yunnan Province. He graduated from Kunming Normal School in 1938 and successively studied at the Anti-Japanese Military and Political University and the Fine Arts Department of the Lu Xun Academy of Arts and Letters. After the founding of the PRC, he served as the head of the printmaking team of the Beijing People's Art Studio; as art consultant of the Beijing Fine Arts Company; and as oil painting teacher of the Fine Arts Department of the Beijing Academy of Arts. In 1956, he studied in the oil painting training course hosted by the Soviet expert Maximov of the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
