Xin Kejing (1934-2012), was born in Guang'an, Sichuan Province. After graduating from the Fine Arts Department of Central China Normal University in 1956, he stayed on as a teacher. In 1958, he voluntarily applied to support cultural construction in the Enshi ethnic minority mountainous areas (恩施少数民族山区); he stayed there for 27 years. In 1985, he was transferred to the Department of Landscape Architecture and Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of the Wuhan Urban Construction College as a professor of Chinese painting.
