Xu Jialin (1941) is from Guiyang, Guizhou Province. After his graduation from the Chinese Painting School of the Art Department of Guizhou University in 1965, he became involved with art popularization work in the Guyuan District Art Institute in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. He transferred to the Ningxia People's Publishing House in 1979 to become art editor, an occupation he still holds.

Xu is known for his Chinese paintings.
