Xu Tiezheng (1932) was born in Jiangyin, Jiangsu Province, and spent his adolescence in Shanghai. The road to education was arduous. When he was in the third year of junior high school, he came into contact with Lu Xun's works through his classmates, and the seeds of "art is life" were deeply planted in his heart. Later, he received two years of sketching training and established his realistic tonality of observing and analyzing objects through physical structure and spatial perspective. In 1954, he entered the landscape painting department of the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts (now the China Academy of Art. He graduated with honors in 1959 and stayed at the school to teach in the Middle School Affiliated to the Academy of Fine Arts for one year and then transferred to the Department of Traditional Chinese Painting of the University to teach. In 1962, he responded to the national call to support local cultural construction and was transferred to Quzhou Normal School to teach. Over the past 40 years, he has trained a large number of art talents and made significant contributions to local art education.
