Yang Shou'an (1940-2019) was born in Kunming, Yunnan Province. He graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts in 1964, majoring in oil painting. Yang served as the stage designer of the Sichuan Opera Troupe in Nanchong, Sichuan Province, and the curator of the Mass Art Museum in Nanchong. He was the executive deputy director, research librarian, and first-class artist of the Art Committee of the Cultural Bureau of Nanchong City.

Yang created more than 150 oil paintings, propaganda posters, comics, and gouache paintings.
