Ye Dechang (1933) is from Quanzhou, Fujian Province. After his graduation from the Zhejiang Art Academy in 1960, he taught in various art institutes and academies in Hubei Province. More recently, he headed an art academy in Xiamen, Fujian Province.

Ye is known for his figurative paintings, but his Chinese paintings and New Year prints are greatly appreciated too.
