Ye Qizhang (叶其璋)

yeqizhangYe Qizhang (1938) is from Shanghai. He graduated from the Shanghai Normal School of Fine Arts in 1956, graduated from the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts in 1968, and later taught at the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts. From 1967 to 1978, he created and published many oil paintings, comic strips and propaganda paintings during the Cultural Revolution. From 1978 to 1982, he returned to teach at Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts. From 1983 to 1986, he was a visiting scholar in the Art Department and Art Theory Department of the University of California, Berkeley. From 1987 to 1992, he was a tutor at the San Francisco Art Institute. After 1993, he became a freelance artist and set up his own studio to engage in design and painting work.
