Yin Xiangqian (1932-2013) was born in Siping, Jilin Province. After his graduation from the Drawing Department of the North East Lu Xun Art Academy in 1955, he went to Jinan, Shanxi Province, to teach art. In 1963, he became the head of the New Year print group of the Shanxi Jinan Industrial Art Research Office. He transferred to Linfen District in 1972, where he was active as an artist and an art administrator.

Yin was known for his New Year prints and lacquer paintings.
