Yu Fuqian (1938-2007), also known as Yu Fuqian (于福谦), was born in Tianjin. He graduated from the high school attached to the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1959, and graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1964. He was transferred to Nankai University in 1984 to teach.

He was known for his Chinese paintings, but also a famous freehand flower-and-bird painter.
