Zhang Luan (Tianjin, 1924-2009) used the pen name Zhang Mimei (张米玫). Ms. Zhang learned drawing at the knee of her father. In the 1950s, she designed New Year pictures and comic strips while working for the Tianjin branch of the Chinese Artists Association. Later, she transferred to the New Year pictures section of the Tianjin People's Fine Arts Publishing House. Her last professional title was that of advisor at the same section.

Ms. Zhang's heart was in designing New Year pictures. She received awards for her work, which is also included in the collection of the China Art Gallery.
